Pete's Stonefly

This stonefly has been extremely effective drifted deep beneath an indicator through some of the cool dark pools in Arizona. I usually tie it in brown on a #8-12 long shank hook with quite a bit of weight added. I have toyed around with a bead but have seen no real difference in the way they produce. My friend Pete Nunez showed me how to tie this fly and always ties a much cleaner, nicer looking fly than I do. It is one of the more labor intensive flies that I work on but it is effective when everything else seems to fail. Because it takes more materials and patience, it always breaks my heart when I loose it on the stoney creek bottom. Thanks to Pete for a great fly.
